Right To Work Checker

Terms of Service

Last updated 2026-05-11.

These terms govern your use of the Right To Work Checker API and dashboard ("the Service") operated by us ("the Provider"). By creating an account or sending requests to the Service you accept these terms.

1. The Service

The Service is a programmatic interface that drives a session against gov.uk/view-right-to-work on your behalf and returns the structured result. We are not affiliated with the UK Government or gov.uk. The Service depends on gov.uk availability and HTML stability; we make no warranties about either.

2. Your account

You must keep your API keys confidential. We treat any request made with your key as authorised by you. You are responsible for revoking compromised keys from your dashboard.

3. Acceptable use

  • You may only check share codes for which you have a lawful basis to process.
  • You may not attempt to scrape, reverse-engineer, or circumvent the rate limits or quota system.
  • You may not resell raw API responses as your own data product.
  • You may not use the Service to harass, profile, or discriminate against any individual.

4. Fees and billing

Paid plans are billed monthly via Stripe. Overage usage is metered and settled in arrears on the same invoice. Failed payments will result in your subscription moving to a past_due state; the Service will return HTTP 402 until payment succeeds.

5. Data processing

You are the Controller for the personal data in share codes you submit; we are your Processor. Our processing terms are set out in our Data Processing Agreement, which is incorporated by reference into these terms.

6. Service availability

We target high availability but do not offer a contractual SLA on Free, Pro, or Scale tiers. Enterprise tier customers may sign a separate SLA addendum. The Service may be temporarily unavailable if gov.uk is unavailable; we will not credit usage for such windows.

7. Termination

You may terminate your account at any time from the Stripe Customer Portal. We may suspend or terminate your account for material breach of these terms, including abusive use of the Service, on reasonable notice. On termination, your data is deleted per our retention policy.

8. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or related to the Service is limited to the fees paid by you in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

9. Changes

We may update these terms; we will give at least 30 days' notice via email for material changes. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales; disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
