What is an immigration status share code?
A code someone creates on gov.uk to prove their immigration status for a reason other than work or renting, such as opening a bank account or applying for a loan.
Is there a Home Office API for immigration status?
No public one. The Home Office check is a web page. Check Share Code runs that check and returns the result as JSON.
What does an immigration status check show?
The person's status, such as settled or pre-settled status, its start and end dates, any conditions, their name and photo, and a Home Office reference.
Who uses immigration status checks?
Banks, lenders, universities checking fee status, and councils checking eligibility for services.
